Working Principle

The GS8000 utilizes stepped-frequency continuous wave ground-penetrating radar technology to detect the internal material properties and distribution patterns of subsurface targets by transmitting and receiving high-frequency electromagnetic waves. When electromagnetic waves encounter different media within the bridge structure, such as steel reinforcement, concrete, voids, and cracks, they undergo reflection, refraction, and scattering. The instrument receives these signals, processes and analyzes them to determine the internal structural condition of the bridge.

Structural Layer Thickness Detection: Accurately measures the thickness of bridge road surfaces, deck pavements, concrete structural layers, etc., to determine whether each structural layer meets design requirements. It helps identify issues such as insufficient or uneven thickness, providing a basis for subsequent maintenance and repairs.
Reinforcement Distribution and Corrosion Detection: Clearly detects the distribution of internal steel reinforcement in bridges, including the position, quantity, and spacing of rebars. By analyzing the electromagnetic properties of the media surrounding the reinforcement, it can indirectly assess whether corrosion is present, offering critical insights for evaluating the bridge's load-bearing capacity and durability.
Crack and Void Detection: Identifies cracks and voids within the bridge structure, determining their location, size, and depth.
